In order to mobilize the savings of the society, financial institutions are considered as intermediaries and play a crucial role for the growth of the economy of the society. Samudayik Vachat Kosh (Fund) was founded in Dhangadhi, Kailali in 31st July 1992 with the joint cooperation of seventeen persons. This Kosh was converted into a cooperative named Navajeevan Cooperatives Limited (NCL) with the help of the then branch officer of the District Cooperative Office, Kailali, and registered in the Department of Cooperative as a separate cooperative society.
Navajeevan Cooperatives Limited is a multi-purpose cooperative and the first cooperative holding limited banking transactions license from NRB in Nepal. It was established as in institution of limited liability in 15th April 1993 under the Cooperative Act 1991 with the permission of performing transactions throughout the country. It was established in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan city, Kailali, the main town of FWDR of Nepal aiming of mobilization of collected capital of people in the income generating sector to abet the national development.
After the formulation of Cooperative Bank Act 1991 as well as 1992 respectively, cooperative organizations are given the approval for banking transactions by NRB. Accordingly NCL was granted permission of performing limited banking transaction on 20th June 1993 and it started transactions opening its first banking office in Dhangadhi Kailali 16th Dec, 1993.
